Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has revealed that he once sacked his daughter from his establishment for arriving late to work

Speaking on Sunday to Dr. Dayo Israel, the new Chairman of the Board of Management of the Federal Medical Centre, Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, Obasanjo emphasized the importance of discipline and accountability in leadership.
He recounted how, after leaving office as Head of State, his daughter, then a Veterinary Medicine student at the University of Ibadan, joined his farm for practical experience.
“On her first day, she arrived at 7:15 a.m. instead of 7:00 a.m. I warned her about setting a good example. But to my amazement, she was late again the next day, so I sent her back right from the gate,” Obasanjo stated.
He noted that the action had a lasting impact on his employees, who realized that if he could discipline his own daughter, no one was exempt.
Encouraging the new leadership at the medical center, Obasanjo advised them to be firm and unafraid to step on toes for the sake of effectiveness.
“If you’re doing a job and you’re not stepping on toes, then you’re not effective,” he added.
